Police arrived within minutes. They cleared the house, guns drawn, voices sharp and controlled. Lily never let go of me.<\/p>\n
At the station, everything spilled out.<\/p>\n
The man was Aaron Pike<\/strong>, a former coworker of mine\u2014someone I\u2019d barely spoken to. Months ago, he\u2019d offered to \u201chelp\u201d me after my divorce. I declined.
